Devo – Psalms 67

Psalm 67 is a beautiful biblical passage that is both a prayer for God’s blessings and a call to share His goodness with the world :

Verse 1-2: The psalm begins with a plea for God’s mercy and blessing. The psalmist asks for God’s face to shine upon them and for His salvation to be known throughout the earth.

Verse 3-5: These verses express a desire for all nations to praise God for His righteous judgment and guidance. The psalmist envisions the nations being glad and singing for joy because of God’s fairness.

Verse 6-7: Here, the focus is on the earth yielding its increase, and God blessing His people. It emphasizes God’s provision and the bountiful harvest as a sign of His favor.

Verse 8: The final verse concludes with a call for all the ends of the earth to fear God, recognizing His power and sovereignty over all creation.

  3. Gratitude for God’s Provision: Reflect on God’s provision in your life, just as the psalmist acknowledges the earth’s increase as a sign of God’s blessing. Be thankful for what you have.
  4. Evangelism and Sharing God’s Word: Verse 7 reminds us of our responsibility to share the message of God’s salvation with others. We should strive to make His salvation known to all nations.
  5. Reverence for God: The final verse encourages us to fear God, not in a sense of being afraid, but in recognizing His greatness and sovereignty. It’s a call to have deep respect and awe for the Creator.
