Devo – Exodus 11

Exodus 11 provides a significant part of the narrative in the story of the Exodus, where God prepares to free the Israelites from Egypt.

  1. In Exodus 11, God tells Moses that He will bring one more plague upon Egypt, after which Pharaoh will finally let the Israelites go.
  2. This final plague is the death of all the firstborn in Egypt, both humans and animals.
  3. God instructs Moses to tell the Israelites to borrow silver and gold from the Egyptians before their departure.

Life Applications:

  1. Trust in God’s Timing (Verse 1-3): Sometimes, we may be impatient for change or deliverance in our lives, but we should trust in God’s timing. He has a plan and will bring it to fruition at the right moment.
  2. God’s Sovereignty (Verse 4-7): This chapter highlights God’s sovereignty over life and death. It reminds us of the importance of acknowledging God’s authority in our lives and recognizing that our lives are in His hands.
  3. Obedience to God’s Commands (Verse 8-10): Moses and the Israelites obeyed God’s instructions even when they seemed challenging. Similarly, in our lives, we should strive to be obedient to God’s commands, even when they require us to step out in faith.
  4. God’s Faithfulness (Verse 9-10): God had promised to deliver the Israelites, and He is faithful to His promises. This chapter reminds us that God is faithful in keeping His word, and we can rely on His promises in our own lives.
