Day 10/ Psalms 10 thoughts:
In the beginning of Psalm 10, the writer expresses frustration when faced with evil. We can’t wrap our heads around why God isn’t stepping in right now, exactly how we want Him to. It’s like a shout of distress from the heart. Feel that.
Evil people seem to be successful, at least in the world’s eyes. They actively target the poor, helpless, and weak to take advantage of them. And they’re not ashamed of it, either. These folks completely ignore God’s will and act as if He doesn’t even exist. Because they’ve got material wealth, they think there won’t be any consequences for what they do.
David paints a picture of wicked people as predators. They go to great lengths to prey on unsuspecting and vulnerable individuals. And the same ones who deny God’s existence are the ones who sneer at the idea that God would care about their sins. They think they can get away with it.
After venting about the presence of evil people, David prays for God to step in. He’s amazed that some people turn away from God and believe they won’t be held accountable for their sins. In contrast, the Lord knows the needs of the weak and helpless. So David calls on God to disrupt the power of the wicked, searching and judging their lives until every bit of sin is exposed.
It wraps up with praise for the Lord and confidence in His ultimate victory. Even though it starts with frustration and anguish, it ends on a hopeful and faithful note. What God has done for His people brings assurance: a trust that He will listen and act according to His perfect goodness.
So encouraging right now!
